ABA Approved Paralegal Programs

California Paralegal Programs
approved by the American Bar Association

California is the only state to regulate paralegals.  Persons using the titles Paralegal and Legal Assistant are required to meet certain educational qualifications and continuing education requirements. View the regulations at California Business and Professions Code, Sections 6450 through 6456.

The American Bar Association establishes ABA standards for paralegal education.  Currently, there are 260 American Bar Association approved paralegal programs in the United States.  Thirty-three programs are located in California, with five programs located in Orange County.
